DW 50th Anniversary
DotD 11/23 (original simulcast)
Directed by Nick Hurran
Written by Steven Moffat

Past, Present, and Future(s) collide:
On a day like any other, the timelines are all connected. However, on a certain day, it is the day when time is thrown off course. Those who call themselves the "Doctor" have to work side by side to save the realms, of their destiny. But what choices will they make in the long run?

DW 50:
It was many years ago, that this series branched out from a simple series that aligned a generous old man and his grand daughter on a quest of redemption. Lo and behold many storylines, and regenerations, the series has survived since its origins. Like no other series on television has it become a worldwide phenomenon. In fact, this special was simulcasted all over the world on 11/23 in theaters all over. It did so well, there may be talks of more specials to come!

Out now on blu-ray/3D + DVD packed together! It is a fun adventure that can be shared with friends and family! (oh and there's an engaging origin tale we haven't quite explored before)

*Extras include:
Behind the Scenes (a doc behind the misadventures of how this 50th Anniversary Special came to be)
Doctor Who Discovered (a look back, and forward about the Doctor, companions, and enemies. Plus even more flashbacks from familiar faces, and commentary by many previous Doctor's included.
Trailers - promos presented during various events from Comic Con to the BBC Serial airings from 11/23

The Wolverine (2013)

The Wolverine (2013)
Marvel Studios + 20th Century Fox
Snikt Productions
Home Release: 12/3/2013
Directed by: James Mangold
Written by: Mark Bomback & Christopher McQuarrie
(Review based on the Directors Cut)

The Return -
Many years ago, the 3rd X-men left behind a huge chapter "The Rise of the Phoenix" and "The Cure". However both met with cataclysmic consequences, on part of the heroic team versus the Brotherhood of Mutants. With that being said, Logan went on a quest of re-discovery only to be left alone for several years.
With his old life behind him, could redemption be far behind?

Old alliances, and new allies work both side by side and against versus unknown forces in Japan. From Yakuza to a full fledged ninja clan. Everything is tied to many years ago, where Logan's quest across the seas landed him in a battle squadron with no one to turn to but a fellow outsider. It began and ends in the home front of where he made a friend, and an enemy.

Snikt -
This sequel to Logan's origins covers quite a bit of territory, including hints of what's to come, and has been done. More of a continuation of what was left behind, like a puzzle left undone. Altogether it wraps up this ongoing quest of redeeming himself even more. (By the way, this directors cut contains a bit more content that fans demand). A solid story, great acting, lots of action sequences, and tons of surprises.

In addition, the four disc set is the 3D bluray, theatrical release, extended cut, and a digital copy disc.
I won't give too much away, but for every X-Men fan or Snikt fan, this is for you!

TMNT S1 - Vol3 - Ultimate Showdown (2012/13)

TMNT Season One Vol3 - Ultimate Showdown

There were four: With the new series underway, the storyline continues. Following a brutal defeat, the gang regroups ready for anything. Alliances are made, some broken, friends become enemies, and enemies become allies. Until they have to save one of their own, and two old rivals reunite on equal ground.

Speaking of ground, there is way more going on this set of episodes. Wrapping up where the first two volumes unraveled. TCRI's existence, the ooze, the origin of Krang, and so much more. The biggest surprise is one of the most menacing things across the stars. And the best part?! I can't spoil that!

Excellent voice acting, writing, and storytelling all mixed together in a fun pizza. Any fan young or old (or those of us who can't get enough of the four brothers!)

Missed some of the awesome sauce? Fret not my friend!

Man of Steel (2013)

Director: Zack Snyder
Writer: David S. Goyer
DC Comics / Legendary Pictures / Syncopy

Many years ago, film cinema took the notion "you'll believe a man can fly" to soaring heights. It pushed ideas that were laid out in various formats, but never quite what they were capable of being. The premise of an alien, given the choice to conquer, or be a herald of peace. It was always that way since day one. But what if he found out who he was all along?

Through flashbacks, we're lead through the tale of knowledge, and downfall of Krypton/ (what is unique about this quest is the opening is a full expansion of what Krypton held as a superpower) It is so diverse and an open world, you would wish there was more to venture on before the inevitable collapse. But wait... Jor El and Lara, we never had the opportunity to see through their eyes. It is so bittersweet to see a tragedy begin, even though the tale barely started.

Being a Superman fan, I followed up with the series as a kid. I always wondered what Jor-El and Lara saw before it all came crashing down. I love the depiction that they were established foundation of the planet, aside from Zod (and his armada). Eventually the shift of power, and the tides change.

All is not drawn upon Krypton, but with Clark's quest of redemption in finding himself. Through flashbacks we get to explore uncharted territory, with doubt, confidence, and the harnessing of his powers (although painful transitions). Until the moment he dons the suit, and takes flight does the moment stay in your mind. Here we go again!

This is as far as my review will go, this tale is an awesome one worth experiencing with friends and family. Just absorb the world around you. Being a fan of a superhero gives that essence of energy and strength, a moment of awe and clarity. Nothing can stop that positive energy, nothing.

What I enjoy most about tales behind Superman, is that they establish what Kal-El strives to be, but cannot. Powers can overwhelm or control, but there are limits to nothing but being ourselves.

This is a must own, no matter what format. I just watched this film on blu-ray, and it is immensely beautiful to take in, every moment, quiet, or dialog. It moves like a flowing river, constantly on a wave to find its goal. For every Superman fan, it is hope for what's to come.

White Collar S4

White Collar Season Four - The Truth Comes Out

When the past re-enters Neal's life, there are consequences. Old friends, and rivals meet on terms, and an old friend dies, and someone that is part of everything he holds dear changes his life forever. Other changes happens within the White Collar team, old boss let go, new one takes over. Peter's life has never been the same since he met Neal, danger, excitement, and sometimes the occasional drink off work.

What makes this show work is the partnership, more like a father / son team. (It may seem odd to admit, but after so many seasons, it is the connection this show has. It is not just a team, but a family that works against some crazy odds)

Season V is now airing, catch up on new things ahead for the show www.usanetwork.com/whitecollar‎

Avengers Assemble

Written by: Brian Michael Bendis
Art by: Mark Bagley

A team like no other, with a roster of: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk. Their roster of teammates keeps growing over the years. In this new saga, an old enemy rears its ugly head. Sending out heralds so called "The Zodiac". This old foe was know to battle for the ownership of the "Infinity Gauntlet".

*For those that are unaware, Thanos is an overlord Skrull, maniacal, power hungry, and psychotic.  Versus the many heroes that have fought him, he has defeated. But this time, he might have met his match. *Plus he had a hand in the Skrull Invasion a few years back.

**Thus enters the "Guardians of the Galaxy" a team from the far off stars, united to protect the universe! A heroic team, like the Avengers, but with more awesome sauce, a babe, and a raccoon. (yup Rocket Raccoon, just don't call him furry, he might bite your hand off)

Only the genius of Bendis, and the art of Bagley could unite this bizarre crossover!
**Since this is a new fresh start for the Assemble series, it is an ongoing series. Do check it out!

Graphic Novels review: Flash Vol.2 Rogue's Revolution + Claws II

Flash Vol II Rogue's Revolution:
Written by: Brian Buccelato
Art by: Francis Manapul
On a quest to repair the time stream, the Flash finds himself lost within Gorilla Grood's homestead. Where a leader must prove themselves by defending their people versus enemies and intruders. Only one problem, Grood actually remembers Flash (from way back, er Blackest Day/ Brightest Night). The two made a deal, somehow fate ties the two together, but oddly enough Grood's people support the Flash because he is heralded as a savior. **but you know Grood's not going to agree anyway

On the other end, the rogues have had their ups and downs, Captain Cold and his band of merry villains once were a team. But that was years ago, things changed, his sister was hurt and is in a coma. Oh, and Flash/Barry hangs out at the villains bar just to get work. (you're not gonna believe was happens next)
Well written, and gorgeous artwork, this is a chapter of the speedster you won't wanna miss.

Wolverine & Black Cat: Claws II
Written by Jimmy Palmotti & Justin Gray
Art by: Joseph Michael Linsner

Speaking of two fun characters, they're adventures are never done. With Arcade and Bunny in the Savage Land, nothing can go wrong. Right? Until a hapless female alien loses a fragment piece of time (in a ball that resembles a magic 8 ball, completely made of metal). Oh, and for those keeping score, yeah that happens too (you know, the "wild thing") No wait, not that, the amazing duo also winds up in the future. Meeting a hero of the future. Killraven (who dons classic gear) and leads his people to freedom.

But the future is not pretty, evil aliens have taken over, friends have been captive. Only they can save the? Time travel is complicated, but these two have got your back.

**Bonus issue included, the origin behind Killraven (written and illustrated by Linsner)
This is an excellent mini-series, the art and story just work well together. Plus who wouldn't want Wolverine and Black Cat to team up (and get in trouble!?)

Film Review: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Directed by Don Scardino
Screenplay written by John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein

Illusionists, mastery of manipulation of the mind, they take their audiences on a journey of imagination and take it even further. But what if it all fell apart? Or could pickup the pieces? Well this is one of those films where anything can happen (and will happen). No wait, does happen, do these names ring a bell?
Jim Carrey, Olivia Wilde, Steve Carrel, Steve Buscemi, and James Gandofini (with many more)

First, this film is amazing. Second: did I say amazing? its incredible
Third, it will make you smile

Film Reviews:Fun Size + Safety Not Guaranteed

Fun Size: Mix chaos, mayhem, and a bit of kooky and you get Fun Size. A Nick film that actually feels more like an adult comedy. (Which is a nice surprise!) Its smart, witty, and moments you can't help but laugh along with. Sure its a bit of drama with a spice of comedy, but its a great mixture. www.paramount.com/funsize/‎

Safety Not Guaranteed: What would you do if someone offered a way to change the past? Undoing a deed that caused great pain, sorrow, or misery. Would you go for a dream? Or think the person is crazy and out of their minds? That is the question throughout this film, where 3 reporters stumble on a mission of rewinding time to find out who they are. But in the real world, they find out that their mission is already in full effect.
**This is definitely a must see! www.safetynotguaranteedmovie.com/

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012/2013) - Rise of the Turtles

Awhile back this series launched a unique fanbase, inspired by two cool cats with marital arts movies in mind. Pushing storytelling boundaries, and taking fans on a crazy ride one from one episode to the next. With several movies, and animation antics, TMNT is one of those series that is totally worth getting back into.

First, this is a new take on origins tale (wait for it.. wait for it..) but! it actually works!? What you say?
Taking a page from the original comic, and the newer revamped series. It mixed the two like a yummy pizza, and all the fillings. Second, it adapts the boys in a fun format, mixing cel-shaded animation with um dare I day manga style antics. (yup this series goes everywhere!) *Oh, and gets to make of itself, along with other series!

*note: the "Gibbs slap" is from NCIS
**Leo loves a "Star Trek" parody (inspiration to be a leader?)
That is just a sample to get you started.

Okay, one thing, April is not a reporter in this tale. Just a daughter of a scientist (weird huh?) oh and one of our old buddies has a crush on her. (for one, he's the smart one of the bunch, and carries a Bo staff)
In this series, the bros even switch off with weaponry, and fighting styles. Feels pretty cool to see a mix up for a change. Sure its the same formula, but with a bit more spunk.

There are in fact 3 volumes of this series, that completes this entire season. Vol.3 "Ultimate Showdown" just hit stores this very week, which contain 2 discs (12 eps altogether). I am really surprised, and humbled by how much fun this series really is again.

TMNT is back in action baby!

ASM - Dying Wish

Writer: Dan Slott
Art by: Ramos & Elson (featuring other webheads)

There was a time in Amazing Spider Man when it was:
A) about a hero doing good deeds
B) the villain was a bad guy for a reason
C) Peter Parker

In this collection of issues, it is the last tale of Amazing Spider-Man as anyone will know for awhile. But this chapter explains why, and how, with regard to who the two sides remain equal. No matter what obstacles, or menace, enemy or ally. It all had to end somewhere, it began, and it must wrap up. But at what cost?

Since One More Day, and Big Time, Peter's life was in full swing. And then some old villains returned, summoning a "Grim Hunt" where every enemy he faced gained strength from supernatural consequences. No longer able to fight alone, there was a chance to work with his allies (Avengers / X-men) and a few old enemies turned good friends. Spider Island shifted directions when Peter's worst nightmare came true. What if everyone became a spider?

With "Dying Wish" it shapes the way the series would forever changes gears. Some were for it, others were against. I know I may be a bit behind in reading new stuff, but catching up still has an impact. There are moments in Spidey history that made us laugh, speechless, shocked, and we couldn't forget. "Dying Wish" is the last chapter to carry to the "Amazing" part of the series title. It is a chapter worth reading, indulging, and read over to make sure you missed nothing in the past few 700 issues in the series history.

A+X = Awesome

After the biggest crossover battle in Marvel history (um there's a ton). Shush. Recent one anyways, but this is not that kind of book. A+X offers a variety of fun tales that mix up two heroes or villains on adventures together. Written and illustrated by the Marvel brain trust (note: there so many to name I can't list everyone!) Its that insane! But a good insane, not like Modok insane, or Doc Ock. Ahem. Good times, and worth a read if you missed the fun times with Marvel's finest.

Fantastic Four - Unified Field Theory

Written by Jonathan Hickman
Art by: Mike Choi, Ron Garney, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Ryan Stegman
Collects issues 605-611

Taking place after the monolithic celebration of 600+ issues, the series explores different perspectives. Or in Marvel's case "What If" scenarios that take the crew on zany adventures from serious, to illuminating understanding of who they are in the vast universe. (in current storylines, before the Marvel NOW connection)

From exploring a journey with his dad (Reed), to a "What if" the F4 happened in a Nazi controlled world, to find a cure for an old friend, to saving a future possibility with aid of a aged old dead enemy, dueling with AIM, embracing life, and facing Doom one more time.

Sounds like a lot to swallow right? Well.. that is F4 in a nutshell. Exploring vast possibilities, and leaving nothing undone, or redone, or disconnected. Be ready to have a thesaurus at the ready (in case you're not ready for a vast usage of unique dialect). Most of all have fun!

I have always loved F4 for that reason, getting to explore different ideas, and being able to find answers that no one dare thinks of, or could happen. Even now with the newer storylines, it never hurts to go back, you might have missed something.

A Notice S6, Two oddball lawyers and Hulk VS

Burn Notice Season 6
Fiona's behind bars, Michael and crew on a mission to make things right. (But do they?) Hoping all was set in motion, Michael's mission from the start was to "do no harm" but that's all he's ever done. Friend and foe alike, have joined and parted ways. With his team running on every bit of energy they can, until the past comes back to be paid. *Plus Nate joins the team (with diverse results, a heart shattering conclusion)
**See no spoilers! But Axe does get a revisit from old enemies (I mean uh partners)
A deal is made, a deal is broken. That is what season 6 is all about.

Franklin and Bash Season One
Meet two lawyers, running an indie team that fights for whats right. Well, almost, until they find themselves on an attorney's radar. Winding up with the job of a lifetime! Being part of a major law firm that has ties all around the states (note: I believe this is that spiritual sequel to Boston Legal) Putting it lightly, its crazy, wacky, and sometimes heartfelt as the team comes together to redeem itself in more ways than one.

Hulk VS Wolverine & Thor
Based on two major battles, Hulk VS takes classic adventures from the printed page, and brought to life. Dealing brutal blows, the heroes come to fist, claw, and hammer to save the day vs the Angry Green Goliath. Special goodies on both discs: commentary, dossiers on the chapters with the big guy, comic con panels and more

Doc Ock Webs and Logan in Space

Presenting a two-fer review, gonna do my best on not including spoilers.

Superior Spider-Man Team Up: Superiority Complex
Written by: Chris Yost / Art by Medina + Checchetto

During the whole transformation, Doc Ock realized unknown potential with his new host body. Being a cancerous fellow, his dreams of becoming someone else are fully realized. In this ensemble of tales, it explores Doc Ock's history, his old identity. working with the X-men (and yup beating the crap out of Logan), and babysitting the Future Foundation.

I have to admit, the main stories still resonate enough from Amazing, although with a different coat of paint. It does take some getting used to without the fun quips, yet Doc Ock Spidey has some humor of his own. However, there is some hidden untapped inertia that drives this new Spidey to accumulate data about his allies and enemies. **I still fathom why in the heck did he crush Logan's face in!? I didn't Peter was that angry?!
Overall, a solid collection of stories, a compliment to the ongoing Superior storyline. Not sure why we need two different Doc Ock series to begin with.

Wolverine: The Best There Is
Written by: Charlie Huston / Art by: Juan Jose Ryp

First, this book is messy, I mean really messy. If you've ever wanted a read a dark Logan series, this is one of them. Released in 2010-2012 as a mini-series, it examines a dark quest that Logan undergoes versus monsters, and outer space.

From the start, a mysterious mutant able to compress biological viruses through his own DNA, tests various superhuman subjects to do his bidding. Leading to some bloody results, and infecting our old buddy. The odd thing is, he undergoes a radical personality change, aside from his body deteriorating and rebuilding itself thrice over. Along the way, meeting up with inhuman beings, a robot (with a librarian bird) and a shapeshifter.

Throughout this dark quest, the rest of the X-men are along for the ride. Watching from the offset regarding their old friend's rehabilitation versus consequences he makes (including hitting on Dazzler?!)

To sum up, messy book, great read, but if you don't like ketchup. Oh and it has a nice rating on the back, yeah definitely not for kiddos. (On the plus side, the art is intense!) And yes lots of ketchup.

Rizzoli & Isles S3

From a partner finding out her dad is tied to the mob (Dr. Isles). To finding out that some cops are working behind the scenes. Season II left open many questions. But hey there is never a doubt that no crime can't have a bit of fun. Taking off from being totally serious in the last season, 3 spices things up with more comedy. From the return of Rizzoli's dad, to a secret about his new wife to be, and her mom's job on the line working for the police HQ cafe. And its never a dull moment without family, with the Rizzoli brothers always getting into mishaps.

And finding out that family ties within the team is tighter than ever. A family that laughs, cries, and sometimes pranks one another just to get through the day.

Season 4 is now on air, so don't miss this fun series =D

Haven Season 3

Welcome back to the town that never loses itself. Or does it? Audrey finally gets the answers she's looking for, but comes with more questions. So to sum up, our heroine and her band of friends team up to take care of the town and its "troubled". They are people who contain supernatural abilities that can only be harnessed by means of control or otherwise. By helping them, the town becomes safer, giving its community a fighting chance to live another day.

But it has its dark secrets, from an alliance of hunters, to those with abilities wanting to do others harm. It all comes down to making the ultimate choice, save the people. And unraveling the truth, with knowing that a storm of unknown origin can ultimately take away all of these problems. But only if someone unique can make a choice, leave and lose their identity.

**Even more fun this season is the amount of familiar faces visiting the town of misfits. There's no telling who or what may show up next time.

Season 4 just started airing this past week, catch up @ the official site www.syfy.com/haven/

Doctor Who - The Snowmen

|Christmas - 1892

Snow, it falls from the heavens, until one fateful day it chose a human to be its herald. But with a Doctor seeking asylum with the loss of trusted companions, can he be redeemed. That is the question various allies seek to answer, working in the shadows protecting humanity from unknown forces. Let alone a familiar face returns, changing everyone's belief of what it means to be a friend.

"The Snowmen" as a Xmas special holds its own bringing the viewer up to speed. Taking place sometime after the Pond's departure, with the Doctor rethinking his adventures: and putting others fates in his hands. Destiny seems to beckon his call, with Clara showing up in the distant past (and much later in the present).
**Note this is a zero episode, but it still has a "cause and effect" within Series 7 part II**

Overall, a must watch for new fans, and returning viewers. This special along with others will be part of the upcoming "Specials" collection for Doctor #11 very soon.

TF Prime Season 2

Transformers Prime Season II picks up where S1 left off. Optimus losing his memory during the battle vs the Remastered Unicron (who was tied to the Earth's Core). Gave up his ability being a Prime to save the planet Earth and its inhabitants. In doing so changed the fate of both sides, dividing the team and forging new alliances. But what lurks underneath the Decepticons?

Season II answers many questions, and creates various scenarios that fans dare dream of.
A) What would Orion Pax do under the helm of being an archivist once more?
B) Could Starscream ever choose side?
C) Would the two sides ever work together?

It also wraps up many story arcs including Queen Arachnia's awakened armada of Insecticons. Including an exploration behind the leader of their kind, Hard Shell (and his ties to a certain Autobot). Plus the return of M.E.C.H. and the shift in their favor of "shifting the tide". Alliances are made and broken, but never like this. Season II takes on all chapters, and dares fans to miss any second of every episode.

*Btw Starscream has a wicked dance move.

Season 3 - Beast Hunters is due for release on 12/3/13 (both dvd and bluray)
Beast Hunters - Dawn of the Beast is available now!

TMNT - Next Mutation

Sometime in the late 90's, a team of Ninja Turtles and their master were brought back to our televisions. What once was four, is now five, with the entry of Mai Pei Chi (or aka Venus De Milo) *for those artistically inclined, named after a classic painting). Long lost after being transformed by the ooze, and finding a new home elsewhere with another master. A destiny is beginning to unfold for the original four, that they did expect.

Intro to the new lady - Mai Pei Chi is a trained shinobi ninja, taught in the ways of mystics using her chi and spirit to help her new allies. Although she has learned much, she has yet to master her skills. **Splinter oddly enough has a hidden knack for training youngsters.

I have to admit, it is so much fun getting to watch this complete series. I grew up with the Turtles when I was a kid. All those toys, novelties, films, and cartoons. It was a crazy time back then, especially with this crazy bunch of ninjas also matching up with Transformers in sales. What was old, revives with something fresh. Oddly enough this series was from the late 90's, its a bit aged. But in a fun way, it works, sadly its the only live action series (aside from the 3 films).

Covering a two part season, 26 episodes (+ 2 bonus extras with Power Rangers in Space, a two parter guest starring the Turtles vs the PR crew.) Oddly enough the crossover works, in a way it should have happened more often. But hey there's no telling where they could show up next.

This series is for anyone who loved the Ninja Turtles, its wacky, fun, and intense. Surprisingly they hit some deep themes that many didn't notice before. And it was a show for kids? Hmm, I think they need to tap into another market (because the films were pretty heavy come to think of it). Overall a must own for fans, both young and grown up.

The Flash - Moving Forward Vol.1 (New 52)

Written by Brian Buccellato
Art by Francis Manapul

Barry Allen has been "The Flash" for many years, with powers of speed manipulation. Little did he know that old forces both friends and enemies have an agenda. Going steady with his girlfriend (who works for the crime lab / dept) they have found an understanding. Same goes for a hot trot reporter who has her eyes on Barry's adventures. While off-land, all of his enemies have been put behind. But Captain Cold has others ideas..

I have to admit I haven't read a Flash series in awhile. Justice League (the ani series) as I recall laid some ground work with delivering classic tales. (and voiced by Mike Rosenbaum, who also played Lex in Smallville) in films (Nathan Fillion and many others). I used to collect DC cards from the early 90's, and they had some gritty artwork. It is truly humbling to find it restarting again, but exactly where it left off.

This whole 52 thing is bizarre, with Flash's adventures he is able to ride time rifts, so its possible that he had a hand in manipulating his universe with other powers. But in this collection, it branches out with his "Time Force" powers, an ability to navigated through time and space, while unknowingly correcting the time stream. (How so? That is revealed with Turbulence, a character related to history with the classic JLA) *Good or evil, read the book to find out!

Overall, I love this series new start, the art is sexy, gritty, and rough. Same goes for the writing, never thought I'd say that about a Flash comic series. Which is a good sign.

Warehouse 13 Season Four

Four seasons ago, we were introduced to a librarian, two defenders, and an outcast. Many years later, they have formed a bond that has outlasted time itself. With one more season to air on tv, this is a series that is worthwhile watching.

From the get go, S4 leaves nothing unturned, where Artie is left with nothing. Everything he held dear is gone, embarking on a quest of redemption with his team (until he loses them). Finds an artifact that can give him time back, but at a great cost. This season is about "redemption" for every member of the WH13 crew. There are several hidden truths revealed, paths unlocked, and the Warehouse itself still retains many secrets.
Every one is tested by their whole soul and being, as this place of history and humanity shapes the fate of its protectors. Along with the regents, they come to find that time itself cannot deny a date with destiny.

Past and present collide, when parts of the Warehouse unravel changing the focus of what is on the inside actually matters to everything outside. Not even time can defeat this mystical place as choice are made, fates are decided, and some find out their true potential when its been there the entire time.

I cannot say much more about this season without giving too much away. But for any fan of storytelling, you have got to watch this series. If you've missed any, catch up! Plus there are a ton of bonus goodies, podcasts + commentaries on episodes, deleted stuff, and extra segments.

www.syfy.com/warehouse13 *the official website of the series, includes bonus features + online store for fan goodies + past seasons, and what's to come! Do not miss Season 5!

Transformers PRIME

Welcome to Earth, the Autobots VS Decepticons, with the help of three humans (Jack, Raph, and Miko). Together they find out that those robots have more roots with humanity that some took for granted. Spanning a vast storyline covering 20+ episodes, its a fun ride worth taking. (even if you're a newcomer to the series).
But take heart, there is a lot of history retold here. Taking a page from the comic book series, it adapts with the movie storyline (from way back in the 80's) **For those taking notes!

Unicron - The World Eater / Conqueror (not to be confused with Marvel's Galactus)
Apparently the big guy crossed over into a parallel Earth, and was lost to the stars. See in the classic film, he was left as a giant head floating the cosmos. But no one ever found his noggin till late in the original tv series. Until this new tale takes his hidden abilities, from the undead, to giving a wielder untapped powers.

Trust between Optimus (who in this tale, is a leader of several members of a protection team). Sadly they lose allies, but also gain new ones along the way. Within the team is a trust, along with deception as everyone has connections to the opposite team. Cybertron, lost its will when the two sides collided, converging war on other planets, the Autobots like always took to protecting a planet's dwellers. VS the Decepticons, with Megatron (or surprise Starscream who in fact isn't a bad leader, but hates the job) **How he gets that? You have to watch to find out.

Season One delivers fun chills, adventure, and storylines that blend many years of storytelling in a solid fashion. This is definitely a series for classic fans, and newcomers alike. But make it a weekend when you have nothing to do but chill out.

New Avengers Vol.1 Everything Dies (Marvel Now)

New Avengers Vol.1 (Marvel Now)
2013

Written by Jonathan Hickman
Art by Steve Epting

AvX – the Aftermath:
With the Phoenix now incapacitated, the Avengers (Illuminati) have re-arranged their ranks. Given their past incursions (House of M, Secret Invasion) their group lost trust and foundations with one another. That being all said and done, rebuilding said trust is a huge gambit none of them will be able to payback. Along with the loss of Xavier (the Phoenix took his life), one of their main foundations is long gone. But there is a chance that this team can redeem themselves.

Thy Roster Tis of Thee:
Panther-
During a mission, T’Challa and several young folk venture out in the jungle. Watching, and viewing, an advanced death of an alternate planet. Seeing it fall from the heavens, being absorbed by a wave of light, no longer there. On a mission of self sacrifice, the Black Panther seeks aid from his friends. And the choice to trust a beauty with uncontrollable power begins to make him question existence.

Strange -
A master of the arts, all knowing and seeing, but unable to change the fate of his friends. Many years ago, he was given the choice to empower a friends decision to change his life, a fate to take away his identity. It was then a manifestation of his own abilities channeled from another world, connecting all of their life lines. Thus the Phoenix tapped into an alternate realm, shaping every universe in existence to its will. Can he change his fate, or doomed to repeat another consequence?

Captain America -
Once a leader, always a leader.. or Avenger. Some years ago, the man Steve Rogers lost his life, only to find a new life in another body. Thus becoming a leader of all both X-man and Avengers, two generations of heroes pulled into a fight versus one another. False identities, lives, Skrulls, and the fate of all existence. Once again, he is pulled into a team of Illuminati, only to be tested. Can he keep it together to be a leader? (or did Cap lose his position once and for all?)

Namor -
Guardian of the Oceans, always vigilant in protecting his homeworld of Earth, only to find troubles from the land walkers. Never a quitter, he always works alongside villain or hero, (at the behest of Reed Richards, Namor still has a thing for Susan) On another story, he is now part of the Avengers once again, becoming the herald of truth and justice. But can he handle that gig he once lost?

Black Bolt -
An Inhuman, once and always forever a leader of his people. But there was a time when he was replaced with a replicant (whom also contained his powers). See he is unable to speak words, but signs to his allies of words to give aid. If he ever does speak, may it only be for battle, because lo and behold a mighty an righteous wrath will come upon those who become wrapped into his energies and succumb to its unspeakable powers. Oh, and he has a sense of humor.

Iron -
Tony Stark, a dreamer, an engineer, now a team captain. Seeking the aid of his friends to secure our existence in this reality. The Infinity Gauntlet given to Cap, lost its gems. Now on a quest with his allies, it becomes a race against time, including a duel with a “World Eater” they never want to face again.

I haven’t read an Avengers series for awhile, I took a break with the Avengers vs Xmen chapter because it was just too much to absorb and actually enjoy. The last time I read a series of the NA, was during the Skrull convergence, there were so many chapters to keep up with it became too difficult to catch up. I learned my lesson with this series, it becomes a game of “cat and mouse”. Where the series moves on in the blink of an eye, month to month it now has an interconnected story all its own. Which I find comforting, given Marvel’s history with having every series bend into another involving readers to catch up with the price tags.

On the plus side, I have to give kudos to the new writer of this series. Hickman is a talented fellow, since this is the “Illuminati” literally the who’s who of the Marvel Universe. It is unlike any previous series, with a constant story flow where every character is involved by manner of dialog or emotion. In Black Bolt’s case by expression (with he being himself again), long story. Steve Epting, I remember his art style from the Captain America series (before Civil War) and Death of + Return. It is both dark, gritty, real, and solid detail in storytelling with both of these talented characters together.

Do not miss a single issue, for the truth is always unraveling.

Superior Spider-man: My Own Worst Enemy (Vol.1)

Superior Spider-Man Vol.1 (My Own Worst Enemy)
Webbings by Dan Slott
Artworkings by Stegman and Camuncoli

Dying Wish to a Dawn of a New Spider=
With the aftermath of the “Dying Wish” chapter, Doc Ock and Peter share one mind/body/soul. But there is a catch, everything Peter used to hold back on, Doc may have a change of heart. Everything he never could, he just might turn the tides on everyone.

New duds, gear, and suit, Superior Spidey outdoes everything that made the ASM series great. It redefines this new series, by turning everything we know about what made Spidey a hero, now a anti-hero. From his relationships with: MJ and Carlie, to working side by side with JJJ, and visiting Aunt May. Could the villain have a heart of gold? Behind this sinister heart, beats the villain’s consciousness, ever plotting, changing, evolving the intellect that was once another human being.

What keeps this story intact is that although Peter may not have his body, in spirit he watches over every move this new “Spidey” makes. Breaking rules, making decisions he never could. Including accessing memories via their connected minds, reliving the past and able to tap into what made them push the others buttons. No longer hero and villain, now one and the same, fighting for existence where one will prove the victor.

As time passes, this new Spidey may have changed the way NYC sees the classic hero. Being the ever vigilant; watchful eye over everything that goes on. But is it too much power? And is the villain emerging?

**I have to admit, it is daunting to read Doc Ock taking over Peter’s body. But since “Ends of the Earth” there was something hidden within Dan’s script. It was haunting how Doc Ock vowed to never give up, even on his deathbed surrounded by his old ‘Sinister Six”. With Peter challenging every move he made since the day they first met. What could happen next?

Amazing Spider Man - Danger Zone TPB

ASM – Danger Zone
50th Anniversary Edition finale
Issues 692-697 + Avenging Spidey #11

Written by Dan Slott
Artistic webbing by Ramos, Gage, Camuncoli, Wellis and Dillon

Origins and the fallout of the Webhead-
It was fifty years ago, when a duo of characters created a crazy world filled with heroes. Spider-man was based on a kid from Queens, lived with his aunt and uncle. Until one tragic filled day, a spider bit him, he gained powers, misused them for his own gain, lost his uncle, nearly lost his aunt. And then came the fall with Norman Osborn…

Fifty years ago, there were stories filled with action, drama, suspense, and comedy. Truth be told, no one knew it was going to be a hit. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko just worked on a tale about a guy who unwillingly becomes a hero to stand up for the little guy. Years later, with films, tv shows, and a long saga of storytelling a change was coming. Spidey defines a generation of storytellers, from kids to adults, and grandparents. Spidey isn’t just a character, he is within all of us, even without superpowers.

Alpha 692-694
From a test lab, Horizon Labs has always been on the cutting edge. Till an unwilling kid does a heroic deed, and gains powers; (unlike a certain character). Like the saying “great powers, comes with great responsibility” this kid does not respect that honored code. Fighting time, and having to ask for help from his long sought family of heroes. Alpha may change the way Peter sees his future.

 Avenging SM#11
From day one, Peter’s powers came second to those he cared about, most of all Aunt May & Uncle Ben. For the longest time, he’s tried to tell the truth, but she never listened. Or did she?

Danger Zone pt1-3 695-697
Powers on the fritz, and two Hobgoblins (yup the original returns), and Madame Web forsees a horrible fate for her brother in webs. No longer able to control his powers, Peter has to succumb to his human side to save himself, with some help from his boss from HL. Working against time, they change their fate in just doing the right thing, stopping an armada of ninjas (with the Kingpin) whom apparently after Big Time is walking freely (and taking a fellow scientist under his grasp). Worlds collide, as two goblins fight for supremacy and control over the name as their powers clash over the skies over New York.

From Madame Web’s visions, Peter’s destiny is not good, and things are going to change in the worst way possible.

(to be continued in “Dying Wish”) with Superior Spider-man now taking over!

Best part about this collection is the dedication the writing and art team collaborate together. Mixing hints of the past with the present, as everything has changed since day one. But just maybe the past is a hint of what’s to come, everything changes, it evolves. For all those Spidey fans, we are in for a new chapter that may be another ride worth taking.

Doctor Who Complete Specials (David Tennant) run

Four mini-films, all told in a parallel storyline "the end" for No.#10. But not a normal end, but a new beginning, only a scratch on the surface from what he was capable of along with his past, present, and future companions. Each film takes place during the end of series 3, and beginning of series 5. There is a huge dynamic in the Doctor's personality traits like never before. I will share key fragments you should look out for as well.

"The Next Doctor"
This first of the last chapters in Doctor 10's journey explores a "what if" scenario. The past collides with the present, as another claims the title "the Doctor". Working side by side they thwart the evils of a newly reformed Cybermen (from another timeline!) Oddly enough they have a human host, which is rare.. until things get a bit more darker.

"Planet of the Dead"
A lost treasure, a London bus, and another realm equal one gigantic mess. Oddly enough its one of the rare occasions that the Doctor does not have the Tardis. Working side by side with a crew of aliens versus the oncoming invasion of parasites.

"The Waters of Mars"
Time collides with the fate of space and humanity. A journey to Mars opens up a nightmarish outcome, with the Doctor having to wrap himself up in a exploring the planet. One of the darkest films in this collection, exploring a darker side of what its like being the Doctor. Choosing life, destiny, versus death and consequence it it not the usual "hero" we're used to.

"The End of Time Part I & II"
The Master returns in a long waited battle, but he is not the only adversary as the Lords of Gallifrey have also joined in the journey of taking the Doctor's life force. As a two parter, it expands on the good/evil side of the two main characters of the tale. Expanding on how their relationship versus one another over the years may have opened up a possibility to change the universe.

Confidentials (the behind the scenes docs)
*Confidential (companion to “The Next Doctor”)
Like all special episodes, this one covers the Xmas episode of series 4. Starting the last saga of David Tennant’s run. A timeline fracture causes the destinies of two Doctors to work together. But like all tales it has roots in the past as the Cybermen have faced numerous battles (some won and lost). What makes this tale unique is the alliance of the cyborgs with a human (a “lady of the night”) to that accord it is a action and dramatic piece that dares asks “what if the doctor was a part of someone else?”

*At the Proms 2k8 –“Music of the Spheres”
Covering a massive collection of tunes from series 4, incorporating a live orchestral performance with interactive segments (with the lovely Freema Agyeman as hostess). For those of us stateside we have never had a chance to see this even before. It is an awesome experience worth sharing with fellow Whovians.}

*Confidential (The Land of the Dead)
It begins with a bus, and its journey to the desert. With one exception, its in Dubai and the bus adventure is way a bit of chaos mixed in. So going with the flow, it becomes a wormhole transporting the vehicle to a foreign planet and it becomes a new adventure. According to RTD this one was “the last fun romp with the Doctor, because from here on out it gets more serious. “

To the transition of a new companion; from ordinary to extraordinary. This is how new ideas were built from, expanding characters like no other series before. As a thief, she carries a bit more persona as an explorer and adventurer. Versus the cops chasing this lady cat burglar, expanding a bit of her run from the law, and winding up as an ally with the Doctor.

Oh and the deserts of Dubai are unpredictable, it is one of the toughest environments (makes you wonder if Earth is connected to a parallel universe sometimes).

*Confi (The Waters of Mars)
Fighting the fate of time, the Doctor attempts fate in saving a crew that literally fights to survive the same fateful day. Taking place in a secluded exploration settlement, the crew has resolved life from Mars. But lo and behold its nature unravels, as its biological hazards have “cause and effect” on the exploration team.

Is it possible for colonization? Going back to 2006, it was evident by NASA proving that there was study of nature and biological inhabitation or evolution of the planet itself. **And there’s a hint of the classic villains, the “Ice Warriors” and they are able to change their homeworld and invaders. Water itself is a substantial element that is part of who we are, and other possible planets.

The End of Time Part I&II
And so it ends as it began, the Tenth Doctor’s journey ends here. As “The Master” is brought back from the beyond, his conquest has been to battle with the Doctor till the end of time. In the two part confidential bonus goodie, it covers the past battles, with the tenth Doctor’s journey’s against time and space to do battle with the evil mastermind. While neither is a normal human being, both characters have gained characteristics opposite one another that keeps them connected forever.

Included in EoT, is David’s last video diary playing as the title character. These are always quite fun romps with each actor’s portrayal of a unlikely hero, pushed to bizarre universes, or timelines that find significant changes to humanity. This is what the “Doctor” is all about.

**There is also a commentary for "End of Time" featuring a few recognizable characters =D

For more fun, the DW crew included the 10th Doctor Comic Con panel (tons of laughs, and hidden surprises galore)

**Extra note- Be sure to read Russell T. Davies book “The Final Chapter”. This novel covers everything about the four year journey of the Tenth Doctor, and the significant impact it had on science fiction writers, and its producer’s trip along with him. It is a very unique book, that unfolds through Russell’s everyday mission of filming, writing, and the lack of sleep (including some flus and colds).

Uncanny X-men - Revolution

Uncanny X-men (After AVX)
Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Art by Chris Bachalo, and Frazer Irving

As a classic BT track called "The Revolution" kicks in "it will be televised, this is not fake!" The same holds true for a new chapter in the X-men ongoing saga. After the fall of the Phoenix in the Avengers vs Xmen mini-series. The rewards of battle have remade the mutants in a whole new way.

**Okay I might have to explain the reboot... see awhile back Scarlet Witch wiped out everyone's memories with her own imagined world thanks to her father (Magneto). With a dream world where Utopia was the planet, and normal begins were secluded by the mutant race that lived in unity with them protecting their freedoms across the stars. But as the truth becomes undone, the damage has taken hold and the mutant race is wiped off the face of the earth.

**Endangered Species - The mutant race may have gained a second chance, or lost it all. With the rebirth of new powers emerging from unknown entities. They come to be a part of the collected X family, and some take up arms against their efforts.

**Beyond space and time = (wait we're not pulling a Doctor Who here!)
With the fabric of reality slowing mending, and the Marvel Universe finally repairing itself the X family finds themselves at odds with another team, the Avengers. Let it be told that the two sides have never agreed with another. But now Scott and his family might not win this one.

So now onto this new chapter with "Revolution". Like the title, Scott and crew have been liberating new mutants to seek the truth and training to find out about their hidden abilities. The sad truth is hidden that they may have lost their old powers, but gained new ones. However their powers unite, it unleashes their real tendencies that have been long hidden since past events.

**okay and Bendis did bend the space time continuum, can't say how but you have to read this book! "Stars and garters" its that good! Oh but it involves Magik (Illyanna) and her powers in some manner.

I honestly wonder how far this new revamped series may go. First the art is great, Bachalo has really matured (way back with Xmen 200, it was more manga-fied than anything) now its gained some solid ground. Plus each character retains their personality, and we even explore territory with the new crew. About the space time thing.. wait till you see what timeline...

Irving illustrates the last piece in this 5 part introduction. With Magik's powers breaking down, tossing her from a place many dare not go. (and its somewhere Peter Parker has been!) **so does that tie into something else? I have often wondered how far that deal went before CW, but it is without a doubt an after effect with every choice anyone has made.

So buy it or shelve it? Buy! (**plus there is the digital extras hidden throughout the book, so for you smartphone users out there, it is a nice extra) And a digital version offer too.

Iron Man - Extremis TPB

Written by Warren Ellis
Art by Adi Granov

Footnote: For those unaware this storyline is tied to a story from a few years back when Tony underwent a transformation. I am honestly unsure why they had to go back and rewrite this chapter. Although it is a solid tale, it just feels weird to see it redone, even 5 years ago.

Before Civil War, before Steve Rogers (died).. there was a different suit. Was it Ultimate? I think there was an alternate version of this story, but it wasn't in the main series. But it did involve a new version of the super soldier formula (the same that created Captain America). However modified, up to date giving the user a significant usage of power, strength, and mental capability.

In this rewrite (or is it directors cut) as a prelude to IM3, Extremis is represented as a new type of SS formula that delivers + or - results depending on the user. Once embedded in their DNA, it amplifies their abilities on a higher plane of existence. Unlike the "Mandarin" as a dragon, this stand alone chapter faces Tony against his humanity, and past as he recalls his memories before he became a hero, and an Avenger.

To tell the truth, its nice to see Tony taking up against a threat by himself. But with all of these rewrites in Marvel's ongoing "Marvel Now" verse, it feels disjointed. Yet the art is great to look at, every page there is action, emotion, and driving points within each panel. I am unsure how to say if it was needed to explain IM3's backstory.. it could have spun things around involving a bit more. Although Tony is in a different frame of mind these days, he still does what he thinks is right, to prevent others from getting hurt.

As much as I enjoy Warren Ellis's writing style, it could have been better.

Gojira - The Past, Present, and Future to come

Back in the mid 50's the classic kaiju monster was a part of a respective movement in free thinking about the environment and its ongoing transformation. Since it was war time, chemical warfare, and worse an atom bomb including radiation poisoning became a huge threat to the world itself. Fearing on its last legs, a gigantic creature is summoned to set humans straight. Oddly enough, it hits highly populated lands who seem to be taking advantage of its adverse landscape and profit.

Being a supernatural creature, Gojira is both a protector and destroyer. Although its intentions are to wipe out the human race from causing harm to the planet. Throughout the years, it began to adapt to all sorts of ideas through different perspectives in storytelling.

Black and white -
Doing my homework on the series, there turns out to be a great divide. A separation between 3 types of generations in story tellers. Unlike many tales, it actually revolves around the time it is set within. More of a Silver, Classic and Heroic Age if you will.

With the Classic, the big G is more ferocious, angry at humanity, or the ongoing monster that wants to cause chaos. Which leads to some big drama overtones, included with the baddie that winds up in its face. It all comes down to the final battle where "one shall stand, and the other goes home". *Except rarely does any opposing foe get destroyed or wiped out* Within each movie it does chronicle the journey of a few reluctant humans who want to save the world, opposite of what others in their homeland wish to do instead.

For many years, both monster and human share common connections, pushing for more intricate tales. Sometimes the baddies were a part of another evil scheme, with both sides of creature and human uniting to take down the super villains. Within Godzilla's universe, everyone and everything is connected.

In the modern day tales various writers and directors tried to recon everything that was done in the past. In order to create a new storyline, starting from scratch re-introducing the big guy and friends to a new audience. The biggest fallout is that it was redone so many times, even fans began to get even more confused. It was also the time where the creature itself took a sidestep to more of the ongoing story.

There was a time when an American studio tried their own version of the series. Except it met lukewarm reviews from fans and critics alike. However the premise was a leap, with Zilla being able to reproduce without the need for a mate, and unleashing a horde of babies within NYC. The same version of the lost lizard reappears in Final Wars only to get a minor scene, and a reluctant bop. (with the original taking its namesake back)

The Great Journey with Akira Ifukube-
At first you might wonder, ("Wait who?") in face he was the composer of the many Gojira themes over the years. From that dreaded theme song, to the epic battle tracks. Also known as highly regarded composer of various songs that became a part of his culture and life. With movies, any time you saw a monster, or gigantic battle, it was done by this gentleman. **His background was also of being a next generation of priests, which carried into his work, with a flow of nature, energy and beliefs.

Final Wars - Past VS the Present:
First this the most action packed, and outrageous G film throughout. Second, it is awesome. Third, the battles are intense (monster) or (superhuman). I honestly can't put the words together about this one. It totally outdoes the films of the past, and kicks it into overdrive. Although I do know its Ryuhei Kitamura & his team to blame for the awesome content.

From the start fans can already tell its a rollercoaster ride. Set sometime in the future, dystopia has been saved thanks to the Earth Defense Force. But there is a downside, a band of superhumans bestowed with significant powers (thanks to the dna of monsters that G has fought for decades) Using this system, they have been able to make Earth safe for many years. However, an old villain returns, kidnapping monsters and causing all sorts of chaos.

X- (the superbeings):
Awhile back these beings were known for kidnapping humans and monsters. Giving an ultimatum of freedom vs slavery. Although we do fight the good fight, we don't always win in the end. They never give up, even after many defeats. This new generation of Xillians however is a different story. Twice as powerful, and even more nasty. Their new mission: take over Earth, and control all monsters (but they can't seem to snag the Big G ever).

EDF - Superhuman heroes
From a task force, to an armada these teams pull out all the stops in defending their home. But the most bizarre thing about them is that do not exist from the present, but the far flung future. Shaping the world, they protect humans from monsters and outside forces. But they may need to turn one of the biggest enemies that anyone has feared for decades.

Godzilla - modern?
Being in hibernation thanks to the EDF team many years ago. The big guy came to take in the process that humans are taking things in their own hands. But the biggest issue is can they protect themselves? In the past he and his friends were always called upon to protect the planet (and sometimes the universe). If the world was without a monster anti-hero could it survive?

The Godzilla Collection Series I&II-
In 2004, with the release of Final Wars, Toho re-released (directors cut of Gojira), and original cuts of many of the early 50's,60's, and 70's series. (ending at MechaGodzilla). It is altogether an awesome collection, mixing up the best of the series, and and showing that no matter the year, G is timeless.

Within the collection is an array of eight film, including bonus goodies (commentary) and mini documentaries. Including tributes to the series composer, directors, and factoids about the history about the "King of the Monsters". If you are a big super fan, you should not miss this in your collection.

Gojira - Criterion Edition http://www.criterion.com/films/27755-godzilla

Godzilla (2014) A new beginning:
Returning to its roots, humanity is tackling more issues and thus it summons the biggest monster in existence. Is it here to save or destroy? Bringing together a diverse cast of talent, this new intro to the lizard that we all fell in love with takes centre stage once more. No longer a threat of minor proportions, this new version of Godzilla is going to tackle more themes, monsters, and humans. And might even answer a few questions about why we look up to the big guy.

Keep up with the bug guy on whats ahead! http://www.godzilla-movies.com/
