Avengers Assemble

Written by: Brian Michael Bendis
Art by: Mark Bagley

A team like no other, with a roster of: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk. Their roster of teammates keeps growing over the years. In this new saga, an old enemy rears its ugly head. Sending out heralds so called "The Zodiac". This old foe was know to battle for the ownership of the "Infinity Gauntlet".

*For those that are unaware, Thanos is an overlord Skrull, maniacal, power hungry, and psychotic.  Versus the many heroes that have fought him, he has defeated. But this time, he might have met his match. *Plus he had a hand in the Skrull Invasion a few years back.

**Thus enters the "Guardians of the Galaxy" a team from the far off stars, united to protect the universe! A heroic team, like the Avengers, but with more awesome sauce, a babe, and a raccoon. (yup Rocket Raccoon, just don't call him furry, he might bite your hand off)

Only the genius of Bendis, and the art of Bagley could unite this bizarre crossover!
**Since this is a new fresh start for the Assemble series, it is an ongoing series. Do check it out!

Graphic Novels review: Flash Vol.2 Rogue's Revolution + Claws II

Flash Vol II Rogue's Revolution:
Written by: Brian Buccelato
Art by: Francis Manapul
On a quest to repair the time stream, the Flash finds himself lost within Gorilla Grood's homestead. Where a leader must prove themselves by defending their people versus enemies and intruders. Only one problem, Grood actually remembers Flash (from way back, er Blackest Day/ Brightest Night). The two made a deal, somehow fate ties the two together, but oddly enough Grood's people support the Flash because he is heralded as a savior. **but you know Grood's not going to agree anyway

On the other end, the rogues have had their ups and downs, Captain Cold and his band of merry villains once were a team. But that was years ago, things changed, his sister was hurt and is in a coma. Oh, and Flash/Barry hangs out at the villains bar just to get work. (you're not gonna believe was happens next)
Well written, and gorgeous artwork, this is a chapter of the speedster you won't wanna miss.

Wolverine & Black Cat: Claws II
Written by Jimmy Palmotti & Justin Gray
Art by: Joseph Michael Linsner

Speaking of two fun characters, they're adventures are never done. With Arcade and Bunny in the Savage Land, nothing can go wrong. Right? Until a hapless female alien loses a fragment piece of time (in a ball that resembles a magic 8 ball, completely made of metal). Oh, and for those keeping score, yeah that happens too (you know, the "wild thing") No wait, not that, the amazing duo also winds up in the future. Meeting a hero of the future. Killraven (who dons classic gear) and leads his people to freedom.

But the future is not pretty, evil aliens have taken over, friends have been captive. Only they can save the? Time travel is complicated, but these two have got your back.

**Bonus issue included, the origin behind Killraven (written and illustrated by Linsner)
This is an excellent mini-series, the art and story just work well together. Plus who wouldn't want Wolverine and Black Cat to team up (and get in trouble!?)

Film Review: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Directed by Don Scardino
Screenplay written by John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein

Illusionists, mastery of manipulation of the mind, they take their audiences on a journey of imagination and take it even further. But what if it all fell apart? Or could pickup the pieces? Well this is one of those films where anything can happen (and will happen). No wait, does happen, do these names ring a bell?
Jim Carrey, Olivia Wilde, Steve Carrel, Steve Buscemi, and James Gandofini (with many more)

First, this film is amazing. Second: did I say amazing? its incredible
Third, it will make you smile

Film Reviews:Fun Size + Safety Not Guaranteed

Fun Size: Mix chaos, mayhem, and a bit of kooky and you get Fun Size. A Nick film that actually feels more like an adult comedy. (Which is a nice surprise!) Its smart, witty, and moments you can't help but laugh along with. Sure its a bit of drama with a spice of comedy, but its a great mixture. www.paramount.com/funsize/‎

Safety Not Guaranteed: What would you do if someone offered a way to change the past? Undoing a deed that caused great pain, sorrow, or misery. Would you go for a dream? Or think the person is crazy and out of their minds? That is the question throughout this film, where 3 reporters stumble on a mission of rewinding time to find out who they are. But in the real world, they find out that their mission is already in full effect.
**This is definitely a must see! www.safetynotguaranteedmovie.com/

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012/2013) - Rise of the Turtles

Awhile back this series launched a unique fanbase, inspired by two cool cats with marital arts movies in mind. Pushing storytelling boundaries, and taking fans on a crazy ride one from one episode to the next. With several movies, and animation antics, TMNT is one of those series that is totally worth getting back into.

First, this is a new take on origins tale (wait for it.. wait for it..) but! it actually works!? What you say?
Taking a page from the original comic, and the newer revamped series. It mixed the two like a yummy pizza, and all the fillings. Second, it adapts the boys in a fun format, mixing cel-shaded animation with um dare I day manga style antics. (yup this series goes everywhere!) *Oh, and gets to make of itself, along with other series!

*note: the "Gibbs slap" is from NCIS
**Leo loves a "Star Trek" parody (inspiration to be a leader?)
That is just a sample to get you started.

Okay, one thing, April is not a reporter in this tale. Just a daughter of a scientist (weird huh?) oh and one of our old buddies has a crush on her. (for one, he's the smart one of the bunch, and carries a Bo staff)
In this series, the bros even switch off with weaponry, and fighting styles. Feels pretty cool to see a mix up for a change. Sure its the same formula, but with a bit more spunk.

There are in fact 3 volumes of this series, that completes this entire season. Vol.3 "Ultimate Showdown" just hit stores this very week, which contain 2 discs (12 eps altogether). I am really surprised, and humbled by how much fun this series really is again.

TMNT is back in action baby!

ASM - Dying Wish

Writer: Dan Slott
Art by: Ramos & Elson (featuring other webheads)

There was a time in Amazing Spider Man when it was:
A) about a hero doing good deeds
B) the villain was a bad guy for a reason
C) Peter Parker

In this collection of issues, it is the last tale of Amazing Spider-Man as anyone will know for awhile. But this chapter explains why, and how, with regard to who the two sides remain equal. No matter what obstacles, or menace, enemy or ally. It all had to end somewhere, it began, and it must wrap up. But at what cost?

Since One More Day, and Big Time, Peter's life was in full swing. And then some old villains returned, summoning a "Grim Hunt" where every enemy he faced gained strength from supernatural consequences. No longer able to fight alone, there was a chance to work with his allies (Avengers / X-men) and a few old enemies turned good friends. Spider Island shifted directions when Peter's worst nightmare came true. What if everyone became a spider?

With "Dying Wish" it shapes the way the series would forever changes gears. Some were for it, others were against. I know I may be a bit behind in reading new stuff, but catching up still has an impact. There are moments in Spidey history that made us laugh, speechless, shocked, and we couldn't forget. "Dying Wish" is the last chapter to carry to the "Amazing" part of the series title. It is a chapter worth reading, indulging, and read over to make sure you missed nothing in the past few 700 issues in the series history.

A+X = Awesome

After the biggest crossover battle in Marvel history (um there's a ton). Shush. Recent one anyways, but this is not that kind of book. A+X offers a variety of fun tales that mix up two heroes or villains on adventures together. Written and illustrated by the Marvel brain trust (note: there so many to name I can't list everyone!) Its that insane! But a good insane, not like Modok insane, or Doc Ock. Ahem. Good times, and worth a read if you missed the fun times with Marvel's finest.

Fantastic Four - Unified Field Theory

Written by Jonathan Hickman
Art by: Mike Choi, Ron Garney, Giuseppe Camuncoli and Ryan Stegman
Collects issues 605-611

Taking place after the monolithic celebration of 600+ issues, the series explores different perspectives. Or in Marvel's case "What If" scenarios that take the crew on zany adventures from serious, to illuminating understanding of who they are in the vast universe. (in current storylines, before the Marvel NOW connection)

From exploring a journey with his dad (Reed), to a "What if" the F4 happened in a Nazi controlled world, to find a cure for an old friend, to saving a future possibility with aid of a aged old dead enemy, dueling with AIM, embracing life, and facing Doom one more time.

Sounds like a lot to swallow right? Well.. that is F4 in a nutshell. Exploring vast possibilities, and leaving nothing undone, or redone, or disconnected. Be ready to have a thesaurus at the ready (in case you're not ready for a vast usage of unique dialect). Most of all have fun!

I have always loved F4 for that reason, getting to explore different ideas, and being able to find answers that no one dare thinks of, or could happen. Even now with the newer storylines, it never hurts to go back, you might have missed something.
