Film Review - Insomnia

Or how to put a bunch of stars together in a mind bending thriller. Mix well with Hitchcock vibes, and stir very well. Okay, that is done, literally this film is something beyond words. Before the Nolan brothers laid claim to pushing "The Dark Knight" over the bar with reality. This gem stands out a shocking, yet solid drama about a detective on the end of his rope investigating the murder of a young woman. But the town is set within Alaska, during the weirdest time of the year (the time of daylight) 24/7 sun day in and out. How does one survive and stay sane?

The film itself feels like every character could be the villain, even the local police force finds itself tied in knots. Only a chosen few stand up to the nightmarish change happening within the sleepy town.

**The cast consists of I kid you not: Al Pacino, Robin Williams, and Hillary Swank (and many more)
***With this being a Scott Free film, the Nolan brothers deliver solid storytelling and moments of dread.

If you haven't seen this film, you should. And if you did, watch it again. Might be surprised what side you find your conscience rocking beside.
